It wasn't pretty but Washington Court House picked up their third consecutive win over Miami Trace Friday night 34-7 on a rain soaked night at Gardner Park.
In a game that had 27 penalties, 17 for WCH and 10 for Miami Trace totaling 295 yards the Blue Lions came out on top behind 203 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns from Senior QB Dillon Steward. Steward had had two scrambles in the first quarter, one for 43 yards and the next for 63 yards both on busted plays to put the Blue Lions up 12-0. Miami Trace scored first in the second quarter on a 1 yard run by QB Tyler Taylor to cut the deficit to 12-7 but Washington answered right back with a 13 yard touchdown run from Omar Porter to put them up 20-7 at the half.
Steward and Porter each scored again in the second half, Steward in the third quarter and Porter in the fourth to close things off, 34-7.
On the night Miami Trace finished with 144 total yards, 107 on the ground. They had 8 first downs, committed 6 turnovers and were penalized 10 times for 110 yards. They finish the season 2-8 (0-5).
Washington Court House had 410 total yards all on the ground, led by Steward's 203 and Jamie McCane added 94 yards on 23 carries. Eli Lynch chipped in with 5 carries for 91 yards. They had 11 first downs, committed 4 turnovers and were penalized 17 times for 185 yards. The Blue Lions finish the regular season with 6-3 (3-2). They still have an outside chance of making the playoffs.
