Greenfield McClain 51, Crooksville 38 

The Lady Tigers held Crooksville to 15 second half points and won Monday night’s district semi-final contest over the Lady Ceramics to advance to Saturday night Waverly District finals.

Greenfield took a 16-7 first quarter lead behind Shania Massie 12 points.

The second quarter saw Crooksville use the charity stripe to fight back into the game going 8-of-9 and went into the locker room with a 21 all tie.

The third period set the tempo for the remainder of the contest as the Tigers hit almost 50% of their shots from the field to outscore Crooksville 20-8 and led 41-28 going into the final quarter.

Massie finished scoring 30 points in the contest along with 8 rebounds to lead the Lady Tigers (14-7 overall). That gives Shania four games of scoring 30 points or more this season.

Taylor Polley had 7 points including 5 points in the important third period. Tara Karnes added 6 points, Katy Unger with 4 points and with 2 points each was Sarah Thompson and Lauren Rayburn.

McClain was 18 of 45 (40%) from the field including 5 of 10 on three point shots. They shot 8-of-16 from the charity stripe.

Crooksville was led by Shelbi Van Meter with 15 points as the Ceramics was 10-of-34 from the field (29.4%) from the field including 5-of-11 on three point shots and was 13-of-16 from the free throw line.

McClain outrebounded Crooksville by a 20-17 margin and the Lady Tigers had 16 turnovers while Crooksville had 23 turnovers.

McClain will meet Wellston Saturday at 7pm for a berth to the Logan regionals next week. Wellston trailing 10-2 early in their contest against Chesapeake went on a 19-3 run & never trailed going on to win 54-36 to run their record to 10-12 overall.
