Results Wednesday 5-14-14

 

TENNIS:

The Washington Court House boys tennis team continues their magical season qualifying three players for single's competition and a doubles team in next week's districts. The districts will be held at Ohio University in Athens on Saturday May 24th.

The Blue Lions who were undefeated during the regular season and won their third straight SCOL championship saw Garrett Phipps, Zach Johnson and Drake Berlin advance to the districts for the 2nd year in a row.

Berlin is the #2 seed (up from the 7th seed last year), Phipps is 3rd seed after going 4-1 at the sectionals. He was seeded 5th last year. Johnson will be the 5th seed this year after going to the districts last year as the 8th seed.

In doubles, Carson Ferguson and Noah Mesker qualified for the OU Districts for the second year in a row. They will be the #2 seed after going 5-0 at the Southeastern District sectionals at Portsmouth earlier this week.   

All of the qualifiers except Zach Johnson are seniors. Johnson a junior member of the team.

Top two singles & top two double teams at the districts will qualify for the State Championships in Columbus in late May.

SOFTBALL:

Division 3 Southwest District Sectional Semifinals

The SCOL Champion Clinton Massie Falcons had a short run in tournament, being knocked off by Dayton Chaminade-Julienne 14-5.

East Clinton fell to Maderia 5-2.

Most every other Baseball/Softball game was affected by storms which rolled through Wednesday afternoon.
