TRACK & FIELD: Division 1 District Meet

The Hillsboro Girls missed qualifying as a team with a 6th place finish and Chillicothe was 9th. The Boys finished ahead of Chillicothe in 8th place in the Division 1 Track & Field District Meet held at Marietta College’s Don Drumm Stadium Thursday.

Chillicothe’s Tanea Cousins broke a 40 year old Chillicothe High School Long Jump record with a jump of 17 feet 4 inches, surpassing Joreen Beatty’s 1974 record by an inch. Cousins’ jump won her the District title. She also advances to the Regional in the Girls 100 Meter Dash with a third place finish.

The top four finishers advance to next week’s Regional Meet.

Hillsboro came away with three District Champions, Megan Overberg won the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 1:00.20 and the 4x200 Meter Relay team of Allison Goolsby, Brittney Brown, Erin Hagan and Megan Overberg in 1:50.88 and the 4x400 Meter Relay team of Lillian VAnZant, Mallory Overberg, Megan Overberg and Erin Hagan with a time of 4:14.51.

The 4x100 Meter Relay team of Allison Goolsby, Hope Tira, Brittney Brown and Erin Hagan finished 3rd and Goolsby in the 300 Meter Hurdles placed 3rd all to advance to the Regionals.

The Cavs’ Claire Corzine just missed advancing when she tied for fourth in the Pole Vault. She lost a jump off to Logan’s Grace Seible.

On the Boys side, Hillsboro’s McKenzie Conlon won the 300 Meter Hurdles recording a 41.67. Conlon also finished 2nd in the 110 Meter High Hurdles and was part of the 4th place 4x400 Meter Relay team with Bradley Wildey, Luke Gallimore and Gabriel Tamborski. Tamborski placed 3rd in the 400 Meter Dash to advance.

De-Andre Steward scored 3rd place finishes in the 1600 Meter and 3200 Meter Runs. Zach Middleton also advanced with his 4th place finish to Steward in the 3200.

The 4x800 Relay Team of Lander Zook, Ben Haller, Jack Whalen and Donavan Lowe were runners up to first place Dover. Lowe missed qualifying for the Regionals in the 1600 Meter Run with a 5th place finish.

D.J. Vinson finished 4th in the Boys 200 Meter Dash to advance to next week’s Regional Meet.

Hillsboro’s near qualifiers, the 4x200 Meter Relay team and Jeremy Hayton in the High Jump with 5th place finishes. Hayton lost in a jump off.

Dover was the Girls Meet winner followed by Logan, Athens and Tri-Valley as Regional Team qualifiers.

Logan took the Boys Meet followed by Zanesville, New Philadelphia and Tri-Valley as qualifiers.

Division 2 at Dayton's Welcome Stadium:

Clinton Massie and East Clinton Boys and Girls track teams are participating in the Dayton Division 2 Southwest Districts being held this week at Welcome Stadium in Dayton.

Thursday was the first day of competition. Some results includes:

Clinton Massie Boys are in 6th place in team scoring with 14 points after the first 4 final events.

In pole vault SCOL champion Dylan Collins finished in 5th place just missing qualifying for the Dayton Regionals and teammate Justin VonErden came in 8th place.

The Falcons Boys 4x800 meter relay team of Aaron Gullette, Bryce Boyd, Alex Hudson and Nick Chowney also just missed moving on to the Regionals after finishing in 5th place. Only the top four place finishers in each event will move on to the Regionals also at Welcome Stadium next Thursday and Saturday.

In the Girls division Lady Falcons are in 9th place after the three events finals.

Hanna Duncan finished 5th in the high jump losing a berth to the Regionals in a jump off. Bailey DeForge came in 7th in the Long Jump.

East Clinton didn't place any one in either division finals.

The field event finals for the Boys and Girls will resume on Saturday at 12 Noon and the running finals at 2:30pm at Welcome Stadium.
