Clinton Massie 12, Greenfield McClain 3

Clinton Massie stays in first place in the SCOL after defeating the McClain Tigers on Thursday night.

The Falcons used an 8 inning 2nd inning to clinch the victory.. Jake McIntire picked up the win going 5 innings and had 9 strikeouts. He also had 2 hits and 4 RBI in the game. Ryan Collett also had a 4 RBI day for Clinton-Massie.

Washington 10, East Clinton 0

The Blue Lions baseball team was playing their first game in over a week finished quickly with a run rule win over the East Clinton Astros in SCOL action Thursday night.

Josh Williams and Heath Cassidy combined on a three hitter for the Blue Lions and struck out 11 of the 15 Astros batters they faced.

Christian Johnson, Tyler Sloane and Matt Jones had two hits each for the Blue Lions (9-7 overall/5-3 SCOL).

The Astros' Jim Huff said "Josh Williams pitched real good and Heath Cassidy also pitched well keeping us off balance."

Chillicothe 9, Portsmouth Notre Dame 3

Nolan Tayor pitched a complete game in the Cavs' 9-3 victory over
Portsmouth Notre Dame Thursday night.

Notre Dame got to Taylor for two runs in the 3rd inning, but the Chillicothe
bats came to life to tie and then score seven times over the course of the 4th
and 5th innings.

Taylor scattered six hits over 7 innings. Caleb Price doubled and scored
three of the Cavs' runs.

Chillicothe improves to 7-8 with the win.

Blanchester 9, Hillsboro 4

The Indians lost a tough non league game at Blanchester on Thursday.

Blanchester (13-5) was led by Derek Barger with 3 RBI.

SOFTBALL

Portsmouth Notre Dame 10, Chillicothe 3

The Lady Cavs let a lead slip away as Portsmouth Notre Dame broke open a 2-1 ball game.

Notre Dame scored five runs in the 6th and tacking on four more in the 7th aided by a 3-run home run.

Chillicothe had taken a 2-1 lead in the 4th on a 2-run shot by Hannah Ray and added another run on a solo shot by Bri Dawes.

The Cavs also committed four errors on the day.

Olivia Ray suffers the loss, allowing 6 earned runs.

The Lady Cavs (10-5) head to Hillsboro Friday.

Clinton Massie 13, Greenfield McClain 3

The McClain Tigers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead but the Falcons (10-4 overall/6-2 SCOL) slowly took the lead before pushing across seven runs in the 5th inning.

Emily Ward led Clinton Massie with 4 RBI including a three run homer and Caitlyn Robinson added 3 RBI.

Miami Trace 14, Greenview 3 (5 Innings)

The Lady Panthers got a big win Thursday night (10-6 overall/5-3 SCOL) defeating the Rams in their last contest before Sunday tournament draw.

McKenzie Robinson picked up the win for the Lady Panthers who haven't play this week. Miami Trace scored in each of the 5 innings. Tessa Grooms had a 4 RBI game including a 3 run inside the park homer. Autumn Self added a triple and 3 RBI as the Panthers had 15 hits in the contest.

Lady Panthers are now off till Monday when they play at home against Greenfield McClain.

TRACK & FIELD: East Clinton Wins Tri-Meet

The East Clinton Boys track team had a great showing last night to win their first meet of the season.

The Astros tallied 81 points followed by Lynchburg Clay's 49 and White Oak's 21.

"I had kids stepping up in multiple events" said Coach Steve Sodini. "Looking at the times beforehand I told the kids that this was a meet that we could win. When I told them that I had athletes volunteering to do events so that we could score more points. The team showed a lot of maturity. I cannot remember the last time the EC track team has won an entire meet. They have a lot to be proud of as a team."

The Lady Astros placed third in the tri meet at East Clinton on Thursday.
The 4 x 200 meter dash team consisting of Junior Brooke Carpenter, Senior Kristyn Bogan, Freshman Sydney Landrum, and Senior Alexis took first place with a time of 2:11.78.

Ruble also placed 2nd in the 200 meter dash and the 400 meter dash.
Carpenter also placed 3rd in the 100 meter dash.
Bogan also placed 3rd in the 100 meter hurdles.
Landrum also placed 4th in the long jump.
The 4 x 800 meter dash team of Junior Rebecca Noggle, Freshman Courtney Graves, Sydney Landrum, and Junior Shallen Sabino took 2nd.
Noggle also took 2nd in the 1600 meter dash.
Sabino also placed 2nd in the high jump and 4th in the 300 hurdles.
The 4 x 100 meter dash team of Carpenter, Freshman Haylee Garrison, Bogan, and Freshman Brooke Vineyard took 3rd.
Garrison also placed 4th in the discus.
Vineyard also placed 2nd in the long jump.
The 4 x 400 meter dash team of Ruble, Vineyard, Noggle, and Graves took 2nd.
Sophmore Kaysa Southard took 2nd in the 300 meter hurdles and the 100 meter hurdles.
Freshman Mindy Bean took 4th in the 200 meter dash.

The Astros will have their final regular season meet at home on May 6th.
