Chillicothe Sweeps East Clinton 5-4, 7-0
Nolan Taylor's 7th inning home run broke a 4-4 tie and proved to be the game winner in the opener of a twin bill at East Clinton Saturday.
Ryan Milliken also had a solo shot in the game.
The Astros held a 4-3 lead after scoring three times in the home half of the 4th inning, but the Cavs tied it in the 5th and Taylor lanuched the game winner to snap the tie. Austin Elliott earned the win in relief of Nick Rinehart. Jerret Huff suffered the loss while pitching a complete game for East Clinton.
In the second game, Hunter Bivens went the distance for Chillicothe in a three-hit shutout. The Offense scored the bulk of its runs over the first three innings for a 6-0 lead before scoring again in the 6th inning.
With the wins, Chillicothe improves to 10-8 overall and 5-5 in the SCOL and has won four straight.
The Astros are still in search of their first win on the season.
Chillicothe 10, East Clinton 2
Chillicothe improved to 9-1 with a 10-2 win at East Clinton Saturday.
Hannah Ray was 3-for-4 on the day and scored three runs with an RBI. Bru Dawes drove in three runs for the Cavs offense.
Both teams had nine hits apiece.
Olivia Ray stole home to start a seven run third inning to give Chillicothe the separation it needed for the win. Ray also recorded six strikeouts over 4-innings pitching.
Larrick drove in both runs for East Clinton.
Chillicothe hosts Washington CH Monday afternoon for a chance to grab a share of the SCOL title.
Westerville Central 12, Chillicothe 5
The Cavs' Whitney Watts and Jera Copley put Chillicothe on top 2-1 but over a 49 second span, the Warhawks' Rachel Schroeder, Maddy Toole and Kristen Kapan scored goals to put Westerville Central ahead 4-2 at intermission.
In the second half the Warhawks found the back of the net three more unanswered goals before Sierra Cydrus hit a shot for a 7-3 score.
Cydrus scored two more Chillicothe goals before time expired.
Chillicothe (0-8) will host Westerville South Tuesday night with a 6pm face-off.
TRACK & FIELD:
Tanea Cousins grabbed the Girls 100 Meter Dash championship at the Central Ohio All Star Invitational Saturday at Hamilton Township High School.
Cousins' 13:11 was the top time as she led the Cavalier Girls team.
Cousins also placed 3rd in the Long Jump while Claire Corzine had a 3rd place finish in the Pole Vault.
The highest relay performance for the Boys was the 4x800 team's 6th place finish. The top Boys individual was Ben Haller (7th) in the 3200 Meter Run.
