Chillicothe 4, Franklin Heights 2 (Rd 1, Central District Tournament)

Jalen Mischal had the big knock in a 4-run 3rd inning to lift Chillicothe past Franklin Heights 4-2 in the first round of the Division 1 Central District Tournament.

Caleb Price tripled to lead off the 3rd and scored on a fielder's choice by Hunter Bivens to break a scoreless game. Nolan Taylor and Taylor Wallingford drew back-to-back base on balls. Ryan Milliken reached on a fielder's choice to get Wallingford. Then, Jack Busch laced a single to score Taylor. Mischal wrapped a two-out single to bring home Milliken and Busch for a 4-0 lead.

The Cavs managed just 5 hits for the game, four came in the third inning.

Matt Dunn went the distance to earn the win, scattering 9 hits and allowing single runs in the 5th and 6th innings. Dunn walked just one while striking out seven.

Chillicothe will travel to play #2 seeded Olentangy Liberty Wednesday.


Chillicothe 10, Jackson 8 (Regular Season)

Hannah Ray drove in 3-runs and the Lady Cavs held off a Jackson comeback for a 10-8 Chillicothe win to close out the regular season.

Bri Dawes and Tori Bettendorf scored six of the Chillicothe runs. Dawes was 4-for-5 on the afternoon with doubles in her final three at bats while Bettendorf, Ray and Chi Smitley had 2 hits each. Smitley smacked a a solo home run in the 3rd inning.

Maddie Ayres and Dawes combined in the circle, both yeilded four runs each. Ayres struck out 4 in the win.

Chillicothe will open Division 2 Southeast District tournament play at home with Waverly Wednesday afternoon.
