Chillicothe 19, McClain 9 6-innings
The Cavaliers scored 10 times in the 2nd inning to take command of their SCOL match with McClain Monday for a 19-9 victory.
The Tigers scored twice in their first at bat and despite falling behind 10-2 didn’t give up.
McClain nearly matched Chillicothe offensively for the final three innings, but could never overcome that double-figure 2nd inning.
Olivia Ray collected 4 rbi on the night to lead Chillicothe. Bri Dawes and Maddie Ayres combined for another 5.
Katie Unger paced McClain with a 3 hit night.
Chillicothe improves to 8-3 overall and 7-1 in the SCOL, while McClain slips to 1-6 and 0-5 in the league.
Washington CH 7, Miami Trace 5 8-innings
Wendy Hawk had the big knock for Washington with a walk-off home run in the 8th to upset the defending SCOL champs Monday.
Hawk's homer was her 5th of the season. It was also her 2nd hit of the contest as she earlier hit a double. Chelsea Warning had a double with 3 RBIs and winning pitcher Kate Jude also had a double and an RBI in the contest.
McKenzie Robinson took the loss for Miami Trace (6-5 overall/4-2 SCOL) giving up 12 hits and 2 walks.Alexis Schwartz hit her 2nd homer of the season for 2 RBIs during the contest.
Jude for Washington CH (3-12 overall/3-3 SCOL) had 13 strikeouts in the contest, giving up only 3 hits and 5 walks.
Clinton Massie 1, Hillsboro 0
Brittany Lauer bunt in the top of the 3rd inning helped Alex Vaughn score the only run of the game Monday night.
Tyler Flanigan threw a 4 hitter to pick up the win. Emily Wood had three of the Lady Falcons 4 hits.
Washington CH 5, Miami Trace 4
The Blue Lions found themselves down 4-2 but rallied in the 7th to force extra innings.
Tyler Sloane 2 out single in the bottom of the 9th inning handed the Miami Trace Panthers their first loss of the season.
It's the first loss on the season for Miami Trace as the Panthers fall to 11-1 overall and 6-1 in the SCOL.
Sloane had 3 hits and 3 RBIs in the contest to lead the Blue Lions to a spilt in their series against their Fayette County rivals this season.
Cole Romine picked up the win in relief going 3 2/3 innings giving up only 1 earn run and 2 hits.
Caden Cluxton and Alec Sparkman added two hits each for the Blue Lions.
John Phillips took the loss after pitching 2 1/3 innings in relief. Trevor Haines led the Panthers with 3 hits in the contest. Miami Trace hurt themselves committing 4 errors in the game.
Washington improves to 4-2 in the league and 8-6-1.
Hillsboro 7, Clinton-Massie 6
The Indians (5-7 overall/4-2 SCOL) trailed 6-2 going to the bottom of the 7th inning but exploded with a 5 run inning and clinched the win on a Latrell Haitchock RBI single with 2 out scoring Logan Lesley.
Clinton Massie was led by Ryan Collett 3 hits.
Chillicothe 7, McClain 1
Austin Elliott was 2-for-4 with a run scored while Caleb Price scored twice and drove in two of the Cavs' runs and scored another. Taylor Wallingford added two more rbi while Nolan Taylor and Elliott added one each.
The Cavs tallied three runs in each of the 1st and 3rd innings and had another in the 2nd.
Puckett drove in the lone McClain run, pushing Hampton across the plate in the 3rd inning.
Nick Rinehart worked six innings and struck out 6 to notch the win for Chillicothe.
The Cavaliers improve to 5-7 overall and 2-5 in the SCOL. McClain falls to 1-9 overall and 1-4 in the SCOL.
