Miami Trace Lady Panthers Top WCH in Black and Blue Game

It wasn’t pretty Friday night at Washington Senior High School as both teams combined for 52 turnovers, but the Miami Trace Lady Panthers picked up their first win in three years on the Lady Lions home court 44-29.

The first half was evenly played with Trace leading by one after the first quarter 5-4, and it continued to go back and forth through much of the half. Washington tied the game with three minutes remaining in the half at 15 points a piece until Trace closed out the half on a 9-0 run to take a 24-15 lead.

The third period belonged to Miami Trace as they outscored the Lady Lions 14-4 to lead 38-19 going into the final frame. Washington was able to outscore Miami Trace in the fourth by a score of 10-6 but it was too far out of reach and the Lady Panthers roared victorious 44-29.

On the night Washington (0-6) committed 32 turnovers. They shot 34% from the field knocking down 13/34 of their shots and were a mere 3/11 from the charity stripe. They were also 0/5 from three point range. They were led in scoring on Senior night by Senior Emily Semler’s 7 points.

Miami Trace (3-3) was led in scoring by Senior Magarah Bloom’s 12 and Gracee Stewart’s 10 points. They also shot 38% from the field on 19/50 shooting, 1/8 from three point range for 13% and just 5-17 from the free throw line for 29%. And they committed 29 turnovers.
