Fayette County COVID-19 Outbreak in Jail

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office is reporting an outbreak of COVID-19 within the Fayette County Jail Facility.

In collaboration with Fayette County Public Health, effective strategies to reduce the transmission of COVID-19 include isolation, quarantine, and testing.

Fayette County Public Health, with assistance from Fayette Memorial Hospital, is in the process of testing inmates and jail staff. The Sheriff’s Office is working diligently with Public Health to quickly identify cases, isolate and quarantine appropriately. This investigation is currently ongoing and no other information will be released at this time.

The spread of COVID-19 continues to increase in the county. Fayette County Public Health urges everyone to wear a mask while out in public, and social distance from others who are not living in your household.
