Blue Lions Roar Past McClain

Washington Court House made it a clean sweep of Highland County Friday night with a 46-9 victory over the McClain Tigers. The Blue Lions scored on their first drive and never looked back. 

The Blue Lions opening drive consisted of going 78 yards on 11 plays, taking nearly four minutes off the clock that culminated on a 4 yard touchdown run by Senior Trevin Downing. Seven minutes later Downing would find the end zone again this time from 38 yards out to give Washington a 13-0 lead. Washington would score twice more in the second quarter on a 24 yard run from Ethan Rogers-Wright and a 16 yard pass from Rogers-Right to Tanner Lemaster. McClain did find the end zone in the second quarter on a 14 yard run from freshman Andrew Potts, the Tigers lone touchdown of the night. They did get a nice 34 yard field goal in the third quarter from Senior placekicker Braeden Bergstrom.

The rest of the scoring was all Blue Lions. Troy Thompson caught a 19 yard touchdown pass to put Washington up 31-9, Calum Brown had a 1 yard rush and AJ Dallmayer caught a 34 yard touchdown pass to close things out.

The Blue Lion defense held McClain to under 200 total yards, 80 rushing and 113 passing. McClain had 11 first downs and finished with 3 turnovers. Washington finished with 402 total yards, 171 rushing and 232 passing. They had 12 first downs, one turnover but were penalized 13 times for 145 yards.

Washington (2-2/2-3) plays host to Miami Trace next Friday night in the Battle of Black and Blue. Buckeye Country air time is 6:40pm.

McClain (0-4/0-5) takes on Hillsboro next week in the battle of Highland County.
