RICHARD VOLLIE DOWNARD, age 78, of Washington CH, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 5:50 p.m. at Four Seasons of Washington CH.
He was born on December 21, 1938 in Fayette County to Vollie and Ethel Penwell Downard. Richard was a self-employed contractor and retired after many years as a painter. He enjoyed music and playing his guitar.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Sherri Funk; and siblings, Charles Downard, Donald Downard, Kenny Downard, Betty Wright, Helen Miller, and Lucy Morris.
Survivors include his children, Crystal (Clyde) Kessler, and Richard (Serina) Downard Jr.; grandchildren, Anthony, Barrett, and Cameron Springer, Brandi Hurles, Craig Downard, Joshua Miller, Leanndra Jones, and Chase Miller; ten great-grandchildren; and sister, Dorothy (Joe) Morgan.
In keeping with Richard’s wishes, cremation will be observed. A private memorial service will take place at Washington Cemetery at a later date at the convenience of the family.
