July 26th has been named Fayette County Patriot Day. The Historical Society will honor families who had relatives serve during the Civil War by giving each family a flag. The Museum will ask each family to sign a book which will become a permanent history of those who served during the Civil War. The community is invited to step up and be proud of your family’s Civil War heritage. Local re-creator Mr. Vic Pontious will be portraying President Abraham Lincoln and after reciting the Gettysburg Address, Ms.Teresa Ford will lead those present in singing The Battle Hymn of the Republic. The Fayette County Veteran’s Honor Guard will present the colors and close the program with echoing taps.
