The Fayette Humane Society is having an open house and dedication on Saturday August 2 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Exec-utive Director Dr. Lee Schrader and Ohio SPCA Executive Director Teresa Landon will be speaking at 1 p.m.
For the last few years, the Fayette Humane Society has operated out of a small office nestled in the southwest corner of downtown Washington Court House. "There was no effective way to isolate sick animals or a place for healthy cats to run and play.” said Danyel Bageant, Senior Humane Officer and Office Manager. The idea of remodeling the Humane Society office by adding more rooms and a few fresh coats of paint was sparked. With the kind donations of a few local businesses and individuals, their vision became possible. “If you've ever visited our office, it was just that, an open office space. Because building a freestanding shelter wasn't fi-nancially possible, our staff had a more cost effective vision to house our many homeless cats and kittens. Our adoption and business center is definitely more welcoming.” said Brad Adams, Outreach Director. “We now have a real shelter facility. The facility is now known as the Adoption and Business Center. We are so excited about the remodel that we want everyone to come celebrate with us.” added Executive Director Dr. Lee Schrader.
The public can tour the Adoption and Business Center as well as the new surgical suite. Come and enjoy refreshments from D.B. Yummers and visit all of our wonderful cats and kittens. The Adoption and Business Center is located at 153 S. Main St. - Suite 3 on the corner of Main and East Streets.
