District 9 Travel Report

For the week ending July 16, 2016: The following traffic advisory includes road construction and major maintenance projects requiring long-term lane restrictions and/or closures along the state and federal highway system within ODOT District 9. For statewide information regarding road conditions affected by weather, construction, maintenance or accidents, visit ODOT on the web at www.Ohgo.com

DISTRICTWIDE

A districtwide herbicidal spraying project is scheduled to begin in late April. Crews will be working along various routes throughout the district from approximately 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, as weather permits, and traffic will be maintained by flaggers and/or arrow boards. The project is anticipated to be completed by early summer. (#16-1016)

A districtwide pavement marking project is under way on various routes throughout the area. Crews will be working during weekday, business hours as weather permits, and traffic will be maintained by flaggers and/or arrow boards. The project is anticipated to be completed by early summer. A districtwide mowing project on four-lane and selected two-lane routes in the area is scheduled to begin in early May. Crews will be working from approximately 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, as weather permits, as work will be conducted off the roadway, there should be little to no impact to traffic; however, motorists are reminded of the need for additional caution in work zones where crews will be moving on and off routes. The project is anticipated to be completed in mid-fall. (#16-1008)

A districtwide guardrail replacement project has begun, and crews will be replacing guardrail at various locations on routes throughout the area during weekday, business hours as weather permits. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers, arrow boards and/or temporary signals. The project is anticipated to be completed in early fall. (#16-0180)

A districtwide bridge repair project is under way, with construction beginning in Ross County. Crews will be repairing expansion joints on bridges at various locations, including U.S. 35, S.R. 772 and S.R. 104 in Ross County; U.S. 23 in Scioto County; and U.S. 52 and S.R. 217 in Lawrence County. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of arrow boards, flaggers and/or temporary signals during operational hours. The entire project is scheduled to be completed in late summer. (#16-1040)

ADAMS COUNTY

A sidewalk construction project is under way on S.R. 41 in Peebles, and crews will be working along South Main Street (S.R. 41) between Olive and Chautauqua streets to install sidewalks and repair steps. Although there should be little impact to motorists, traffic will be maintained on the affected streets as needed by flaggers. All work is anticipated to be completed by late July. (#16-0379)

MONDAY, JULY 11: A culvert liner installation project is scheduled to begin on S.R. 32, and crews will be installing a culvert liner at the route’s 21.54-mile marker, just east of C.R. 127 (Black Hollow Road). As most work will be conducted off the roadway, there should be little to no impact to motorists throughout construction. However, traffic on two-lane routes will be maintained by flaggers as needed when crews are working at designated locations. (#16-0318)

MONDAY, JULY 18: A culvert liner installation project will begin on S.R. 247 at the 8.82-mile marker, just north of West Union. Crews will be installing a liner in a culvert that is situated between C.R. 22 (Chapparal Road) and T.R. 76 (Rigdon Road), and as most work will be conducted off the roadway, there should be little impact to motorists. However, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers as needed during daytime, working hours. (#16-0103)

MONDAY, JULY 18: A culvert replacement project is scheduled to begin on S.R. 125, and the route will be closed for up to 45 days. The project site is located between T.R. 80106 (Kent Lane) and T.R. 13 (Aid Run Road), approximately 1.5 miles east of the Brown County line. Motorists will be detoured via S.R. 136, S.R. 41 and S.R. 763 in Brown County, and a local detour will also be established. All work is scheduled to be completed in early fall. (#16-0341)

MONDAY, JULY 18: A bridge replacement project is scheduled to begin on U.S. 52, between T.R. 285 (Lindsey Hollow Road) and T.R. 59 (Buckeye Station Road), approximately four miles east of Manchester. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one, 10-foot lane with the use of temporary signals, and all work is anticipated to be completed in early fall. (#15-3047)

S.R. 137 is closed just east of Cherry Fork for a bridge replacement. The project site is located between S.R. 136 and T.R. 34 (Paint Road), and the route will be closed for up to 45 days. While S.R. 137 is closed, motorists will be detoured via S.R. 136, S.R. 32 and S.R. 247. All work is anticipated to be completed in late summer. (#16-0098)

S.R. 136 is closed at its junction with T.R. 270 (Daniel Road), approximately one-half mile south of the Highland County line, for a bridge replacement project. The route will be closed for up to 45 days, and while it is closed, motorists will be detoured via S.R. 32 and U.S. 62. All work is anticipated to be completed in late summer. (#16-0044)

S.R. 73 is reduced to one lane between T.R. 196 (Dutch Thomas Road) and T.R. 118 (Seaman Road), approximately 1.5 miles north of S.R. 41 at Peebles, for a bridge replacement project. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one, 10-foot lane with the use of temporary signals. The project is anticipated to be completed in late summer. (#15-0509)

A bridge repair project is under way at two locations on S.R. 32, with the route reduced to one lane in each direction. The first site is located at the Norfolk-Southern Railroad overpass, between T.R. 130 (Mendenhall Road) and T.R. 126 (Plum Run Road), and the second location is between C.R. 198 (Portsmouth Road) and S.R. 73. Throughout construction traffic will be maintained in one, 11-foot lane in each direction. (#15-3001)

A bridge replacement project on S.R. 41 between T.R. 91 (Murphin Ridge Road) and C.R. 6 (Fawcett Road), south of S.R. 781, is nearing completion. Crews have minor finishing work to complete; however, traffic will be maintained by flaggers when they are at work. All work is scheduled to be completed by early summer. (#16-0001)

BROWN COUNTY

JULY 11-22: S.R. 41 will be closed between Ellis Run and Meffords Run roads for a slide repair project. The closure will go into effect at 8 a.m. on Monday, July 11, and it will remain in effect until 4 p.m. Friday, July15, or until all work is completed. Motorists will be detoured via U.S. 52 and S.R. 136 in Adams County.

A culvert rehabilitation project is slated to begin in the coming weeks on U.S. 68, and crews will be installing a culvert liner at the route’s 40.91-mile marker, immediately north of T.R. 581 (Ohio Street) at the southern corporation limit of Fayetteville. As most work will be conducted off the roadway, there should be little to no impact to motorists throughout construction. However, traffic on two-lane routes will be maintained by flaggers as needed when crews are working at designated locations. (#16-0318)

S.R. 32 will be reduced to one, 10-foot lane in each direction for a bridge repair and waterproofing project. The project site is situated between T.R. 600 (Sicily Road) and T.R. 162 (Bean Road), and throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in a minimum of one lane in each direction at all times. The project is scheduled to be completed in mid-summer. (#15-0600)

A resurfacing project is under way on S.R. 125, from the Brown-Clermont County line to the 6.4-mile marker between T.R. 402 (Gillette Station Road) and C.R. 18 (Eden Road). The project also includes paving a small section of S.R. 125 immediately east of C.R. 15 (George Miller Road). Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers and/or temporary signals, and the project is scheduled to be completed in mid-summer. (#15-0559)

U.S. 68 has been reopened at the north corporation limit of Fayetteville, immediately north of Anderson State Road, following a bridge repair project. Crews have minor finishing work to complete; however, traffic impacts should be minimal, and traffic will be maintained with flaggers as needed. All work is scheduled to be completed by late summer. CLINTON COUNTY

7/18/16 Reeder Rd. will be closed for a culvert replacement, between Pratt Road and Second Creek Road. The project is anticipated to take 6 weeks. 

FAYETTE COUNTY

Contractors for the Ohio Dept. of Transportation are scheduled to begin a preservation project in Ross Co., with a culvert replacement on St. Rt. 138.

Crews will be replacing a culvert located at the 6.24 mile marker, between twp. Road 72 (Waugh Road) and County Rd. 92 (Ragged Ridge Road), approx. 5.5 miles south of the US 35 interchange. Situated over Little Creek.

The route will be closed to traffic for up to 45 days. While SR 138 is closed, motorists will be detoured by way of US 35, SR 753, SR 41 and SR 28 through Fayette and Highland Counties.

 

HIGHLAND COUNTY

 7/19/16 E. Danville Rd. between Caleb Hill & New Market Rd. will be closed until 8/4/16 for Box Culvert work. 

Harwood Between Hughes & 131 is closed until 7/19/16 for Box Culvert Repair.

Grimsley between Smith and Black Rabbit is closed until 7/28/16 for Box Culvert Repair.

S.R. 32 will be subject to single-lane restrictions in each direction between C.R. 100 (Klein Road) and T.R. 600 (Sicily Road) for bridge repair. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in a minimum of one, 10-foot lane in each direction, and all work is scheduled to be completed by mid-summer. (#15-0600)

S.R. 753 will be reduced to one lane between Spargur Lane and Sams Road for a bridge deck repair (waterproofing) project. Crews will be working during daytime, business hours, and traffic will be maintained in one lane by flaggers when crews are at work. The route will be open to two lanes of two-way travel during the evening, overnight and non-working hours. The project is scheduled to be completed in mid-summer. (#15-0600)

U.S. 50 will be reduced to one lane between Carper Lane, west of Rainsboro, and the Ross County line for resurfacing and bridge repair. Traffic will be maintained in one lane by flaggers during daytime, working hours, and the project is scheduled to be completed in mid-summer. (#15-0517)

JACKSON COUNTY

Huron Street in the city of Jackson is closed for a bridge replacement project. The project site is situated between Dickason and Burlington streets, and the closure will be in effect for up to 45 days. While the route is closed, motorists will be detoured via Dickason Street, Burlington Road and Hilltop Drive. All work is anticipated to be completed in early fall. (#15-3048)

Crews will be repairing bridge decks and approach slabs on various bridges in the east and westbound direction on U.S. 35, between Township Road 223 (Caves Road) and the S.R. 32 interchange, as weather permits. Throughout the project, U.S. 35 will be reduced to one lane in either direction at the designated bridges, and all work is scheduled to be completed in early summer. (#16-1027)

LAWRENCE COUNTY

MONDAY, JULY 11: C.R. 4 (Etna-Waterloo Road) will be closed immediately east of its junction with S.R. 93 for a bridge replacement project. The route will be closed for up to 30 days, and while it is closed, motorists will be detoured via S.R. 93, C.R. 14 (Waterloo-Mt. Vernon Road) and C.R. 51 (Slab Fork Road). (#15-3032)

C.R. 6 (Deering-Bald Knob Road) is now open to traffic south of S.R. 141 following a bridge replacement project. Crews may have some minor finishing work to complete; however, there should be little to no impact to traffic. (#15-3032)

S.R. 243 is subject to periodic single-lane restrictions during daytime, working hours for a resurfacing project. The work zone extends from U.S. 52 at Coal Grove to just east of T.R. 117 (Corbin Creek Road). Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane by flaggers. The project is scheduled to be completed in mid-summer. (#15-0534)

S.R. 775 is closed for a bridge replacement project approximately 1.5 miles east of S.R. 141, immediately west of T.R. 75 (Buckeye-Greasy Ridge Road). The closure will be in effect for up to 60 days, and motorists will be detoured via S.R. 141. All work is scheduled to be completed in late summer. (#15-0492)

Operations for a bridge repair project on S.R. 7 are under way. The project site is situated between C.R. 15 (Buffalo Creek Road) and the interchange ramp from U.S. 52, and traffic may be restricted to one, 12-foot lane in either direction during construction. All work is anticipated to be completed in mid-fall. (#16-0020)

S.R. 650 will be reduced to one lane between U.S. 52 and S.R. 522 for resurfacing. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the aid of flaggers during daytime, working hours. The project is scheduled to be completed in early fall. (#15-0500)

A rockfall remediation project is under way on U.S. 52, between the Ashland, Kentucky twin bridges to just east of C.R. 268 (Crabtree Hollow Road). Throughout construction, westbound U.S. 52 will be reduced to one, 11-foot lane, while eastbound U.S. 52 will remain open to two lanes of traffic. (#16-7001)

As part of the rockfall project, U.S. 52 may be subject to short-term, intermittent periods of closure while crews are scaling rock from the hillside along the westbound side of the route. All four lanes of U.S. 52 may be closed for up to 10-minute intervals at any time during daytime, working hours, and during such times, traffic will be stopped and held by law enforcement officers. Motorists are reminded of the need for additional caution in the work zone.

Construction of the Ironton-Russell Bridge Replacement project continues, and restrictions and traffic pattern changes are in effect on U.S. 23 at the junction with Bellefonte Street and the viaduct in Kentucky, adjacent to the approach for the new structure. KY 244 (Bellefonte Street) will be reduced to one lane at the U.S. 23 viaduct in Kentucky. Additional restrictions and traffic pattern changes are in effect on U.S. 23 adjacent to the approach for the new structure. The restrictions are in effect through August, and motorists may encounter temporary periods of delay in the work zone. PICKAWAY COUNTY

S.R. 56 will be reduced to one lane from the Madison County line to U.S. 22 at Circleville for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers when crews are at work, and the entire project is scheduled to be completed in late summer. (#16-0092)

S.R. 104 is closed between T.R. 101 (Hickory Bend Road) and T.R. 103 (Sisk Road), approximately three miles north of the Ross County line, for a bridge replacement project. While it is closed, motorists will be detoured via U.S. 22, U.S. 23 and S.R. 207; a local detour will also be established. The entire project is scheduled to be completed in late summer. (#15-0613)

PIKE COUNTY

JULY 5-22: Westbound S.R. 32 will be reduced to one lane between S.R. 335 and C.R. 82 (Gravel Washer Road) for a slip repair project. Although most work will take place off the roadway, motorists will need to use additional caution in the work zone. Eastbound traffic should not be affected by this restriction.

MONDAY, JULY 11: A preventive maintenance project will get under way in the Kincaid Fish Hatchery, where crews will be paving, crack sealing and chip-sealing roadways and parking areas within the park that is located off S.R. 124, near C.R. 6 (Lapperell Road). Traffic on S.R. 124 will be maintained at all times; however, park roads may be subject to short-term periods of closure. Traffic will also be maintained by flaggers when crews are at work. The project is scheduled to be completed in late summer. (#16-1037)

MONDAY, JULY 11: A culvert rehabilitation project is scheduled to begin the week of July 11, and crews will be installing a culvert liner on S.R. 772, just north of S.R. 220. As most work will be conducted off the roadway, there should be little to no impact to motorists throughout construction. However, traffic on two-lane routes will be maintained by flaggers as needed when crews are working at designated locations. (#16-0318)

A culvert replacement project is under way on S.R. 772, where crews will be installing a culvert liner at the route’s 0.98-mile marker. The project site is located between the junctions of the Pike-Scioto County line, near T.R. 311 (Vanaka Road), and throughout most construction, there should be little impact to motorists. Traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers as needed, and all work should be completed in mid-summer. (#16-0296)

A resurfacing project on S.R. 772 and S.R. 335 is nearing completion. The project extends on S.R. 772 from S.R. 124 to the Ross County line and on S.R. 335, from U.S. 23 to the Waverly corporation limit. Crews have minor finishing work to complete, and there should be little to no impact to traffic; however, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers as needed. (#15-0614)

S.R. 104 is closed between S.R. 552 and T.R. 420 (Boswell Run Road) as part of the Lake White Dam rehabilitation and bridge replacement project. In addition, S.R. 551 is closed between its junction with S.R. 104 and C.R. 93 (Bricker Road), near the park office. Both closures will be in effect through early November, and while these routes are closed, through traffic will be detoured by way of U.S. 23 and S.R. 32. Local traffic to the Lake White region will be detoured via S.R. 552 and S.R. 220. Roadway construction is anticipated to be completed in late fall 2016, and the lake is expected to be restored for the fishing and boating season in 2017. T.R. 403 (Turkey Run Road) has been closed for a bridge replacement and roadway realignment project, following preliminary work this spring. The project site is located immediately west of the junction with C.R. 32 (Johnson Hill Road), and Turkey Run Road will be subject to a 90-day closure. Traffic will be detoured locally via Johnson Hill, Clines Chapel and Nipgen roads. The entire project is scheduled to be completed in early fall. (#15-0570)

ROSS COUNTY

MONDAY, JULY 11: S.R. 138 will be closed between T.R. 72 (Waugh Road) and C.R. 92 (Ragged Ridge Road) for a bridge replacement project. The closure will be in effect for up to 45 days, and while the route is closed, motorists will be detoured via U.S. 35, S.R. 753, S.R. 41 and S.R. 28 through Fayette and Highland counties. All work is scheduled to be completed in late summer. (#15-0480)

MONDAY, JULY 18: As part of a resurfacing project, U.S. 23 will be reduced to one, 11-foot lane in each direction just north of C.R. 275 (Crouse Chapel Road) for a culvert replacement. The entire project zone extends from the S.R. 159 interchange, north of Chillicothe, to the Pickaway County line. Lane restrictions will be in effect at the culvert replacement site for approximately three weeks and through the entire work zone following this. All work is anticipated to be completed in early fall. (#15-0550)

Preliminary operations are under way for a culvert replacement on S.R. 207, between T.R. 124 (Rinkliff Road) and C.R. 111 (Stone Road). Throughout most construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of temporary signals, and all work is scheduled to be completed in late summer. (#16-0195)

S.R. 772 is closed at the 2.49-mile marker for a bridge replacement project. The project site is located immediately south of T.R. 154 (Camelin Hill Road), 2.5 miles north of the Pike County line. The closure will be in effect through late July, and while the route is closed, motorists will be detoured via S.R. 220, U.S. 23 and U.S. 50 in Chillicothe. (#16-0296)

A resurfacing project is under way on S.R. 159, where crews will be paving the route from Marietta Road, near the U.S. 35 interchange, to just north of C.R. 11 (Hospital Road). Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in a minimum of one lane in each direction; however, paving operations are to be completed between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m., with the route open to all lanes of traffic in both directions during non-working (daytime) hours. The project is scheduled to be completed in early summer. (#15-0572)

Paving operations for a resurfacing and bridge repair project on U.S. 23 are scheduled to begin July 6. Crews will be paving the route between C.R. 600 (Massieville Road) and the S.R. 104 interchange, and traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction. All work is expected to be completed in early fall. (#15-0586)

U.S. 50 is reduced to one lane between the intersections of T.R. 219 (Dixon Mill Road), approximately one-half mile west of the Vinton County line, for a slide repair project. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one, 11-foot lane with the use of temporary signals. The project is anticipated to be completed in early summer. (#16-0033)

C.R. 205 (Three Locks Road) has been reopened following a bridge replacement project at the Indian Creek bridge, just north of Sugar Tree Road. Crews have minor finishing work to complete; however, traffic will be maintained by flaggers when they are at work. The project is anticipated to be completed in mid-summer. (#16-0032)

SCIOTO COUNTY

A paving project on U.S. 52 East in Portsmouth is under way with sidewalk construction and curb ramp installation. Traffic impacts during the initial phase of the project should be minimal, and all lanes will be maintained. The entire project calls for resurfacing the eastbound lanes of 11th Street (U.S. 52) from the western corporation limit of Portsmouth to New Boston, as well as between Malone Cox Road and S.R.239 at West Portsmouth. Paving operations are anticipated to begin until early July; during which time, traffic will be maintained in a minimum of one lane. The project is scheduled to be completed in mid-fall. (#16-0157)

A slide repair project is under way on S.R. 772, between the village corporation limit of Rarden and T.R. 77 (Kirker Road), and traffic is being maintained in one, 11-foot lane with the use of temporary traffic signals. All work is anticipated to be completed in early fall. (#16-0073)

A resurfacing project is under way on S.R. 348, where crews will be paving the route from its intersection with S.R. 73 to the Adams County line. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers when crews are at work, and all work is anticipated to be completed in mid-summer. (#15-0502)

S.R. 73 is reduced to one lane at the village of Rarden for bridge repair. Traffic is being maintained in one lane with the use of temporary traffic signals, and all work is anticipated to be completed in early July. (#14-0498)
