District 9 Travel Report

 

For the week ending May 28, 2016: The following traffic advisory includes road construction and major maintenance projects requiring long-term lane restrictions and/or closures along the state and federal highway system within ODOT District 9. For statewide information regarding road conditions affected by weather, construction, maintenance or accidents, visit ODOT on the web at www.Ohgo.com

DISTRICTWIDE

A districtwide raised pavement marker (RPM) project is under way on various routes throughout the area. Crews will be working from approximately 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as weather permits to install RPMs, and traffic will be maintained by flaggers and/or arrow boards. The project is anticipated to be completed by early summer. (#16-1011)

A districtwide herbicidal spraying project is scheduled to begin in late April. Crews will be working along various routes throughout the district from approximately 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, as weather permits, and traffic will be maintained by flaggers and/or arrow boards. The project is anticipated to be completed by early summer. (#16-1016)

A districtwide pavement marking project is under way on various routes throughout the area. Crews will be working during weekday, business hours as weather permits, and traffic will be maintained by flaggers and/or arrow boards. The project is anticipated to be completed by early summer. A districtwide mowing project on four-lane and selected two-lane routes in the area is scheduled to begin in early May. Crews will be working from approximately 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, as weather permits, as work will be conducted off the roadway, there should be little to no impact to traffic; however, motorists are reminded of the need for additional caution in work zones where crews will be moving on and off routes. The project is anticipated to be completed in mid-fall. (#16-1008)

A districtwide guardrail replacement project has begun, and crews will be replacing guardrail at various locations on routes throughout the area during weekday, business hours as weather permits. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers, arrow boards and/or temporary signals. The project is anticipated to be completed in early fall. (#16-0180)

ADAMS COUNTY

MONDAY, JUNE 6: S.R. 137 will be closed just east of Cherry Fork for a bridge replacement. The project site is located between S.R. 136 and T.R. 34 (Paint Road), and the route will be closed for up to 45 days. While S.R. 137 is closed, motorists will be detoured via S.R. 136, S.R. 32 and S.R. 247. All work is anticipated to be completed in late summer. (#16-0098)

S.R. 73 is reduced to one lane between T.R. 196 (Dutch Thomas Road) and T.R. 118 (Seaman Road), approximately 1.5 miles north of S.R. 41 at Peebles, for a bridge replacement project. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one, 10-foot lane with the use of temporary signals. The project is anticipated to be completed in late summer. (#15-0509)

A bridge repair project is under way at two locations on S.R. 32, with the route reduced to one lane in each direction. The first site is located at the Norfolk-Southern Railroad overpass, between T.R. 130 (Mendenhall Road) and T.R. 126 (Plum Run Road), and the second location is between C.R. 198 (Portsmouth Road) and S.R. 73. Throughout construction traffic will be maintained in one, 11-foot lane in each direction. (#15-3001)

Operations are under way on S.R. 41 for a bridge replacement project. The project site is situated between T.R. 91 (Murphin Ridge Road) and C.R. 6 (Fawcett Road), south of S.R. 781. During the initial phase, crews will be clearing the site, and traffic will be maintained by flaggers. Traffic will be maintained in one, 12-foot lane with the use of temporary traffic signals throughout construction, and all work is scheduled to be completed by mid-summer. (#16-0001)

BROWN COUNTY

MAY 26 - JUNE 2: S.R. 221 will be closed daily for a series of five culvert replacement projects between U.S. 52 Higginsport and S.R. 125 at Georgetown. The route will be closed from approximately 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, with it open to evening, overnight and weekend travel. During periods of closure, motorists will be detoured by way of U.S. 52 at Higginsport, S.R. 505 and S.R. 125 at Georgetown.

S.R. 32 will be reduced to one, 10-foot lane in each direction for a bridge repair and waterproofing project. The project site is situated between T.R. 600 (Sicily Road) and T.R. 162 (Bean Road), and throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in a minimum of one lane in each direction at all times. The project is scheduled to be completed in mid-summer. (#15-0600)

Operations are under way for a microsurfacing on S.R. 32, where crews will be paving the route between T.R. 171 (Freeh Road) and the Adams County line. Traffic impacts should be minimal during site preparations; however, traffic will be maintained in a minimum of one lane in each direction once construction begins. All work is anticipated to be completed by mid-summer. (#15-0603)

A resurfacing project is under way on S.R. 125, from the Brown-Clermont County line to the 6.4-mile marker between T.R. 402 (Gillette Station Road) and C.R. 18 (Eden Road). The project also includes paving a small section of S.R. 125 immediately east of C.R. 15 (George Miller Road). Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers, and the project is scheduled to be completed in mid- summer. (#15-0559)

U.S. 68 is closed at the north corporation limit of Fayetteville, immediately north of Anderson State Road, for a bridge repair project. Motorists will be detoured via U.S. 50, S.R. 251 and S.R. 123; a local detour will also be assigned. The project is scheduled to be completed in late summer. (#15-0494)

CLINTON COUNTY

5/31/16 Horseshoe Road will be closed for a bridge replacement. Located between State Route 134 N and Speers Road in Liberty Twp., Clinton County. The last address accessible from the south will be 623 Horseshoe Rd. The last address accessible from the north will be 293 Horseshoe Rd. The project is anticipated to take five weeks.

FAYETTE COUNTY

5/24/16 White Road will be closed for 2 weeks (June 7) from US 22 to Clemens Rd. to replace a culvert.

 

HIGHLAND COUNTY

MAY 24-25: South Baker Road will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday, May 24-25, for a two-day culvert replacement project. The closure will go into effect at 8 a.m. Tuesday and remain in effect through 5 p.m. Wednesday. Motorists will be detoured via Leonard Road and S.R. 134.

MAY 26-27: North Baker Road will be closed for a two-day culvert replacement. The closure will go into effect 8 a.m. Thursday and will remain in effect until 5 p.m. on Friday. Motorists will be detoured via C.R. 59 (Barker Road) and S.R. 134.

S.R. 32 will be reduced to one lane in each direction between C.R. 100 (Klein Road) and T.R. 600 (Sicily Road) for bridge repair. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in a minimum of one, 10-foot lane in each direction, and all work is scheduled to be completed by mid-summer. (#15-0600)

S.R. 753 will be reduced to one lane between Spargur Lane and Sams Road for a bridge deck repair (waterproofing) project. Crews will be working during daytime, business hours, and traffic will be maintained in one lane by flaggers when crews are at work. The route will be open to two lanes of two-way travel during the evening and overnight hours. The project is scheduled to be completed in mid-summer. (#15-0600)

As part of a resurfacing project, U.S. 50 is reduced to one lane between Old US 50 and Cave Road at the structure over Paint Creek for bridge repair. The entire work zone extends from Carper Lane, west of Rainsboro, to the Ross County line, and throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with temporary signals at the bridge and by flaggers through the rest of the construction zone. The project is scheduled to be completed in mid-summer. (#15-0517)

JACKSON COUNTY

Dickason Street in the city of Jackson is closed for a bridge replacement project. The project site is located one block south of Huron Street in the city, and while the route is closed, motorists will be detoured via Burlington Road. The project is anticipated to be completed in early fall. (#15-3048)

Crews will be repairing bridge decks and approach slabs on various bridges in the east and westbound direction on U.S. 35, between Township Road 223 (Caves Road) and the S.R. 32 interchange, as weather permits. Throughout the project, U.S. 35 will be reduced to one lane in either direction at the designated bridges, and all work is scheduled to be completed in early summer. (#16-1027)

LAWRENCE COUNTY

THURSDAY, MAY 26: S.R. 650 will be reduced to one lane for resurfacing. Crews will be working between U.S. 52 and S.R. 522, and throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the aid of flaggers. The project is scheduled to be completed in early fall. (#15-0500)

S.R. 243 is reduced to one lane during daytime, working hours for a resurfacing project. The work zone extends from U.S. 52 at Coal Grove to just east of T.R. 117 (Corbin Creek Road). Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane by flaggers. The project is scheduled to be completed in mid-summer. (#15-0534)

C.R. 13 (Long Creek Road) is closed for a bridge replacement project over Watson Creek. The project site is situated immediately north (west) of the junction with C.R. 37 (Scottown-Lecta Road), and while the route is closed, motorists will be detoured locally and via S.R. 775. This project is part of the Ohio Bridge Partnership Program, and bridge replacements will also take place on C.R. 4 and C.R. 6. The start dates and closures of these structures are yet to be determined. The entire project is scheduled to be completed in late summer. (#15-3032)

Preliminary operations for a bridge repair project on S.R. 7 are under way. The project site is situated between C.R. 15 (Buffalo Creek Road) and the interchange ramp from U.S. 52, and during the initial phase of the project, there should be little to no impact to traffic. Later in the project, traffic will be restricted to one, 12-foot lane in each direction. All work is anticipated to be completed in mid-fall. (#16-0020)

A rockfall remediation project is under way on U.S. 52, between the Ashland, Kentucky twin bridges to just east of C.R. 268 (Crabtree Hollow Road). Throughout construction, westbound U.S. 52 will be reduced to one, 11-foot lane, while eastbound U.S. 52 will remain open to two lanes of traffic. (#16-7001)

As part of the rockfall project, U.S. 52 will be subject to short-term, intermittent periods of closure while crews are scaling rock from the hillside along the westbound side of the route. All four lanes of U.S. 52 will be closed for up to 10-minute intervals at any time during daytime, working hours, and during such times, traffic will be stopped and held by law enforcement officers. Motorists are reminded of the need for additional caution in the work zone.

As part of the Ironton-Russell Bridge Replacement project, additional restrictions and traffic pattern changes will go into effect on U.S. 23 in Kentucky, at the junction with Bellefonte Street and the viaduct, adjacent to the approach for the new structure. Southbound U.S. 23 traffic will be reduced to one thru lane, with the passing lane closed to traffic. Northbound U.S. 23 traffic will continue to be maintained in one thru lane and one turn lane for Bellefonte Street; however, traffic patterns will be shifted to the north. The restrictions will be in effect through early August, and motorists are reminded of the need for additional caution in the work zone. PICKAWAY COUNTY

S.R. 56 will be reduced to one lane between T.R. 181 (Davis Road) and T.R. 182 (Douglas Road for bridge repair as part of a resurfacing project that extends from the Madison County line to U.S. 22 at Circleville. Traffic at the bridge will be maintained by temporary signals, and by flaggers in the remainder of the construction zone. The entire project is scheduled to be completed in late summer. (#16-0092)

Preliminary operations are under way for a bridge replacement project on S.R. 104. The project site is situated between T.R. 101 (Hickory Bend Road) and T.R. 103 (Sisk Road), approximately three miles north of the Ross County line. Currently, traffic impacts should be minimal, and traffic is being maintained by flaggers as needed. However, the route will be closed June 6 for major construction, and while it is closed, motorists will be detoured via U.S. 22, U.S. 23 and S.R. 207; a local detour will also be established. The entire project is scheduled to be completed in late summer. (#15-0613)

PIKE COUNTY

A resurfacing project is under way on S.R. 772 and S.R. 335. Crews will be paving S.R. 772 from S.R. 124 to the Ross County line and S.R. 335, from U.S. 23 to the Waverly corporation limit. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers, and the project is scheduled to be completed in early summer. (#15-0614)

S.R. 104 is closed between S.R. 552 and T.R. 420 (Boswell Run Road) as part of the Lake White Dam rehabilitation and bridge replacement project. In addition, S.R. 551 is closed between its junction with S.R. 104 and C.R. 93 (Bricker Road), near the park office. Both closures will be in effect through early November, and while these routes are closed, through traffic will be detoured by way of U.S. 23 and S.R. 32. Local traffic to the Lake White region will be detoured via S.R. 552 and S.R. 220. Roadway construction is anticipated to be completed in late fall 2016, and the lake is expected to be restored for the fishing and boating season in 2017. T.R. 403 (Turkey Run Road) has been closed for a bridge replacement and roadway realignment project, following preliminary work this spring. The project site is located immediately west of the junction with C.R. 32 (Johnson Hill Road), and Turkey Run Road will be subject to a 90-day closure. Traffic will be detoured locally via Johnson Hill, Clines Chapel and Nipgen roads. The entire project is scheduled to be completed in early fall. (#15-0570)

ROSS COUNTY

A resurfacing project is under way on S.R. 159, where crews will be paving the route from Marietta Road, near the U.S. 35 interchange, to just north of C.R. 11 (Hospital Road). Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in a minimum of one lane in each direction; however, paving operations are to be completed between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., with the route open to all lanes of traffic in both directions during non-working (daytime) hours. The project is scheduled to be completed in early summer. (#15-0572)

As part of a resurfacing and bridge repair project, U.S. 23 will be reduced to a minimum of one lane in either direction between T.R. 183 (Trego Creek Road) and T.R. 1173 (Maple Lane) for a culvert replacement. The entire work zone extends from C.R. 600 (Massieville Road) to the S.R. 104 interchange; however, paving operations are not anticipated to begin until early June. All work is expected to be completed in early fall. (#15-0586)

U.S. 50 is reduced to one lane between the intersections of T.R. 219 (Dixon Mill Road), approximately one-half mile west of the Vinton County line, for a slide repair project. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one, 11-foot lane with the use of temporary signals. The project is anticipated to be completed in early summer. (#16-0033)

C.R. 205 (Three Locks Road) at the Indian Creek bridge is closed for a bridge replacement project. The project site is located just north of Sugar Tree Road, and the route will be closed for up to 120 days. While it is closed, traffic will be detoured via T.R. 194 (Toad Hollow Road) and C.R. 600 (Massieville Road) to Cauble Lane and U.S. Route 23. The project is anticipated to be completed in mid-summer. (#16-0032)

SCIOTO COUNTY A slide repair project is under way on S.R. 772, between the village corporation limit of Rarden and T.R. 77 (Kirker Road), and traffic is being maintained in one, 11-foot lane with the use of temporary traffic signals. All work is anticipated to be completed in early fall. (#16-0073)

A resurfacing project is under way on S.R. 348, where crews will be paving the route from its intersection with S.R. 73 to the Adams County line. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers when crews are at work, and all work is anticipated to be completed in mid-summer. (#15-0502)
