District 9 Travel Report

For the week ending April 23, 2016: The following traffic advisory includes road construction and major maintenance projects requiring long-term lane restrictions and/or closures along the state and federal highway system within ODOT District 9. For statewide information regarding road conditions affected by weather, construction, maintenance or accidents, visit ODOT on the web at www.Ohgo.com

DISTRICTWIDE

A districtwide raised pavement marker (RPM) project is under way on various routes throughout the area. Crews will be working from approximately 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, as weather permits, and traffic will be maintained by flaggers and/or arrow boards. The project is anticipated to be completed by early summer. (#16-1011)

A districtwide herbicidal spraying project is scheduled to begin in late April. Crews will be working along various routes throughout the district from approximately 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, as weather permits, and traffic will be maintained by flaggers and/or arrow boards. The project is anticipated to be completed by early summer. (#16-1016)

A districtwide mowing project on four-lane and selected two-lane routes in the area is scheduled to begin in early May. Crews will be working from approximately 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, as weather permits, as work will be conducted off the roadway, there should be little to no impact to traffic; however, motorists are reminded of the need for additional caution in work zones where crews will be moving on and off routes. The project is anticipated to be completed in mid-fall. (#16-1008)

ADAMS COUNTY

S.R. 73 is reduced to one lane between T.R. 196 (Dutch Thomas Road) and T.R. 118 (Seaman Road), approximately 1.5 miles north of S.R. 41 at Peebles, for a bridge replacement project. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one, 10-foot lane with the use of temporary signals. The project is anticipated to be completed in late summer. (#15-0509)

A bridge repair project is under way at two locations on S.R. 32, with the route reduced to one lane in each direction. The first site is located at the Norfolk-Southern Railroad overpass, between T.R. 130 (Mendenhall Road) and T.R. 126 (Plum Run Road), and the second location is between C.R. 198 (Portsmouth Road) and S.R. 73. Throughout construction traffic will be maintained in one, 11-foot lane in each direction. (#15-3001)

Operations are under way on S.R. 41 for a bridge replacement project. The project site is situated between T.R. 91 (Murphin Ridge Road) and C.R. 6 (Fawcett Road), south of S.R. 781. During the initial phase, crews will be clearing the site, and traffic will be maintained by flaggers. Traffic will be maintained in one, 12-foot lane with the use of temporary traffic signals throughout construction, and all work is scheduled to be completed by mid-summer. (#16-0001)

BROWN COUNTY

MONDAY, APRIL 18: Preliminary operations will get under way for a microsurfacing on S.R. 32, where crews will be paving the route between T.R. 171 (Freeh Road) and the Adams County line. Traffic impacts should be minimal during site preparations; however, traffic will be maintained in a minimum of one lane in each direction once construction begins. All work is anticipated to be completed by mid-summer. (#15-0603)

MONDAY, APRIL 25: A resurfacing project is scheduled to begin on S.R. 125, from the Brown-Clermont County line to the 6.4-mile marker between T.R. 402 (Gillette Station Road) and C.R. 18 (Eden Road). The project also includes paving a small section of S.R. 125 immediately east of C.R. 15 (George Miller Road). Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers, and the project is scheduled to be completed in mid- summer. (#15-0559)

MONDAY, APRIL 25: U.S. 68 will be closed Monday, April 25, at the north corporation limit of Fayetteville, immediately north of Anderson State Road, for a bridge repair project. Motorists will be detoured via U.S. 50, S.R. 251 and S.R. 123; a local detour will also be assigned. The project is scheduled to be completed in late summer. (#15-0494)

CLINTON COUNTY

Tuesday, May 3rd Farmers Road will be closed for a culvert replacement located between Bethel Lane and Accommodation Road in Washington Twp. The last address accessible from the south will be 1934 Farmers Rd. The last address accessible from the north is 1833 Farmers Rd. The project is anticipated to take 2 days.

 

FAYETTE COUNTY

 5/2/16 Until further notice, Harmony Rd will be closed from Old US 35 to Ford Rd. for contractors to set electric poles during working hours.

South Elm Street from E. Elm Street to Broadway in WCH will be closed on April 25 for three days to repair the railroad tracks.

4/13/16 Washington Waterloo will be closed for 2 weeks from Glaze to Bloomingburg New Holland Rd. for Culvert Replacement.

 

 

HIGHLAND COUNTY

5/4/16 Bells Run Rd. between Mowrystown Sardinia & Kay Rd. will be closed until 5/9/16 for pipe repair.

Beginning Monday, May 2nd SR 753 will be reduced to one late between Spargur Lane and Sams Rd. for paving decks and applying a waterproofing asphalt concrete surface course to bridges. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers when crews are at work. Work is scheduled to be complete by mid summer.

As part of a resurfacing project, U.S. 50 will be reduced to one lane between Old US 50 and Cave Road at the structure over Paint Creek for bridge repair. The entire work zone extends from Carper Lane, west of Rainsboro, to the Ross County line, and throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with temporary signals at the bridge and by flaggers through the rest of the construction zone. The project is scheduled to be completed in mid-summer. (#15-0517)

JACKSON COUNTY

MONDAY, APRIL 18: Crews will be repairing bridge decks and approach slabs on various bridges in the east and westbound direction on U.S. 35, between T.R. 223 (Caves Road) and the S.R. 32 interchange, as weather permits. Throughout the project, U.S. 35 will be reduced to one lane in either direction at the designated bridges, and all work is scheduled to be completed in early summer. (#16-1027)

LAWRENCE COUNTY

MONDAY, APRIL 18: C.R. 13 (Long Creek Road) will be closed for a bridge replacement project over Watson Creek. The project site is situated immediately north (west) of the junction with C.R. 37 (Scottown-Lecta Road), and while the route is closed, motorists will be detoured locally and via S.R. 775. This project is part of the Ohio Bridge Partnership Program, and bridge replacements will also take place on C.R. 4 and C.R. 6. The start dates and closures at these structures are yet to be determined. The entire project is scheduled to be completed in late summer. (#15-3032)

MONDAY, APRIL 25: S.R. 243 will be reduced to one lane during daytime, working hours for a resurfacing project. The work zone extends from U.S. 52 at Coal Grove to just east of T.R. 117 (Corbin Creek Road). Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane by flaggers. The project is scheduled to be completed in mid-summer. (#15-0534)

Preliminary operations for a bridge repair project on S.R. 7 are under way. The project site is situated between C.R. 15 (Buffalo Creek Road) and the interchange ramp from U.S. 52, and during the initial phase of the project, there should be little to no impact to traffic. Later in the project, traffic will be restricted to one, 12-foot lane in each direction. All work is anticipated to be completed in mid-fall. (#16-0020)

A rockfall remediation project is under way on U.S. 52, between the Ashland, Kentucky twin bridges to just east of C.R. 268 (Crabtree Hollow Road). Throughout construction, westbound U.S. 52 will be reduced to one, 11-foot lane, while eastbound U.S. 52 will remain open to two lanes of traffic. However, all four lanes of the route will be subject to short-term, temporary closure during scaling operations, whereby traffic will be stopped and held for up to 15-minute intervals. The days and times of these intermittent closures have yet to be determined. (#16-7001)

The Ironton-Russell Bridge replacement project continues, with work being conducted off affected roadways. In addition to localized closures affecting downtown traffic, motorists are advised of equipment entering and exiting the work zone in Ironton and at the U.S. 23 viaduct in Kentucky. PICKAWAY COUNTY

MONDAY, APRIL 18: Site preparations will begin the week of April 18 for a bridge repair and resurfacing project on S.R. 56. Crews will be establishing traffic controls between T.R. 181 (Davis Road) and T.R. 182 (Douglas Road), and traffic will be maintained by flaggers during the first week of construction. Following this, traffic at the bridge will be maintained by temporary signals. This is part of a two-lane resurfacing project that extends from the Madison County line to U.S. 22 at Circleville. The entire project is scheduled to be completed in late summer. (#16-0092)

Preliminary operations are under way for a bridge replacement project on S.R. 104. The project site is situated between T.R. 101 (Hickory Bend Road) and T.R. 103 (Sisk Road), approximately three miles north of the Ross County line. Currently, traffic impacts should be minimal, and traffic is being maintained by flaggers as needed. However, the route will be closed June 6 for major construction, and while it is closed, motorists will be detoured via U.S. 22, U.S. 23 and S.R. 207; a local detour will also be established. The entire project is scheduled to be completed in late summer. (#15-0613)

PIKE COUNTY

A resurfacing project is under way on S.R. 772 and S.R. 335. Crews will be paving S.R. 772 from S.R. 124 to the Ross County line and S.R. 335, from U.S. 23 to the Waverly corporation limit. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers, and the project is scheduled to be completed in early summer. (#15-0614)

S.R. 104 is closed between S.R. 552 and T.R. 420 (Boswell Run Road) as part of the Lake White Dam rehabilitation and bridge replacement project. In addition, S.R. 551 is closed between its junction with S.R. 104 and C.R. 93 (Bricker Road), near the park office. Both closures will be in effect through early November, and while these routes are closed, through traffic will be detoured by way of U.S. 23 and S.R. 32. Local traffic to the Lake White region will be detoured via S.R. 552 and S.R. 220. Roadway construction is anticipated to be completed in late fall 2016, and the lake is expected to be restored for the fishing and boating season in 2017. (#15-8021)

Site preparations are under way along T.R. 403 (Turkey Run Road) in preparation for a bridge replacement and roadway realignment project this summer. The project site is located immediately west of the junction with C.R. 32 (Johnson Hill Road), and crews will be clearing and grubbing off the roadway as weather permits. Currently, there is little to no impact to traffic; however, Turkey Run Road will be subject to a 90-day closure once construction begins in late spring. The entire project is scheduled to be completed in early fall. (#15-0570)

ROSS COUNTY

U.S. 50 is reduced to one lane between the intersections of T.R. 219 (Dixon Mill Road), approximately one-half mile west of the Vinton County line, for a slide repair project. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one, 11-foot lane with the use of temporary signals. The project is anticipated to be completed in early summer. (#16-0033)

C.R. 205 (Three Locks Road) at the Indian Creek bridge is closed for a bridge replacement project. The project site is located just north of Sugar Tree Road, and the route will be closed for up to 120 days. While it is closed, traffic will be detoured via T.R. 194 (Toad Hollow Road) and C.R. 600 (Massieville Road) to Cauble Lane and U.S. Route 23. The project is anticipated to be completed in mid-summer. (#16-0032)

SCIOTO COUNTY

Preliminary operations for a slide repair project are under way on S.R. 772, with tree clearing getting under way this week. The project site is situated between the village corporation limit of Rarden and T.R. 77 (Kirker Road), and during the initial phase of the project, there should be little to no impact to traffic. Later in the project, traffic will be maintained in one, 11-foot lane with the use of temporary traffic signals. All work is anticipated to be completed in early fall. (#16-0073)

A resurfacing project is under way on S.R. 348, where crews will be paving the route from its intersection with S.R. 73 to the Adams County line. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers when crews are at work, and all work is anticipated to be completed in mid-summer. (#15-0502)
