District 9 Travel Report

For the week ending September 17, 2016: The following traffic advisory includes road construction and major maintenance projects requiring long-term lane restrictions and/or closures along the state and federal highway system within ODOT District 9. DISTRICTWIDE

A districtwide mowing project on four-lane and selected two-lane routes in the area is scheduled to begin in early May. Crews will be working from approximately 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, as weather permits, as work will be conducted off the roadway, there should be little to no impact to traffic; however, motorists are reminded of the need for additional caution in work zones where crews will be moving on and off routes. The project is anticipated to be completed in mid-fall. (#16-1008)

A districtwide guardrail replacement project has begun, and crews will be replacing guardrail at various locations on routes throughout the area during weekday, business hours as weather permits. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers, arrow boards and/or temporary signals. The project is anticipated to be completed in early fall. (#16-0180)

A districtwide bridge repair project is under way, with construction beginning in Ross County. Crews will be repairing expansion joints on bridges at various locations, including U.S. 35, S.R. 772 and S.R. 104 in Ross County; U.S. 23 in Scioto County; and U.S. 52 and S.R. 217 in Lawrence County. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of arrow boards, flaggers and/or temporary signals during operational hours. The entire project is scheduled to be completed in late summer. (#16-1040)

ADAMS COUNTY

A micro-resurfacing project is under way on S.R. 247 in the village of West Union. The project extends from the route’s junction with S.R. 41 (West Main Street) to the intersection with S.R. 32, and throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers. All work is anticipated to be completed by early October. (#16-0342)

S.R. 125 has been reopened between T.R. 80106 (Kent Lane) and T.R. 13 (Aid Run Road) following a culvert replacement project. Crews have minor finishing work to complete, there should be little impact to traffic, and all work is anticipated to be completed by early fall. (#16-0341)

A sidewalk construction project is under way on S.R. 41 in Peebles, and crews will be working along South Main Street (S.R. 41) between Olive and Chautauqua streets to install sidewalks and repair steps. Although there should be little impact to motorists, traffic will be maintained on the affected streets as needed by flaggers. (#16-0379)

A culvert liner installation project is under way on S.R. 32, and crews will be installing a culvert liner at the route’s 21.54-mile marker, just east of C.R. 127 (Black Hollow Road). As most work will be conducted off the roadway, there should be little to no impact to motorists throughout construction. However, traffic on two-lane routes will be maintained by flaggers as needed when crews are working at designated locations. (#16-0318)

A culvert liner installation project has begun on S.R. 247 at the 8.82-mile marker, just north of West Union. Crews will be installing a liner in a culvert that is situated between C.R. 22 (Chapparal Road) and T.R. 76 (Rigdon Road), and as most work will be conducted off the roadway, there should be little impact to motorists. However, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers as needed during daytime, working hours. (#16-0103)

A bridge replacement project has begun on U.S. 52, between T.R. 285 (Lindsey Hollow Road) and T.R. 59 (Buckeye Station Road), approximately four miles east of Manchester. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one, 10-foot lane with the use of temporary signals, and all work is anticipated to be completed in early fall. (#15-3047)

S.R. 73 has been reopened to two lanes between T.R. 196 (Dutch Thomas Road) and T.R. 118 (Seaman Road), approximately 1.5 miles north of S.R. 41 at Peebles, following a bridge replacement project. Crews have minor finishing work to complete; however, there should be little to no impact to motorists, and all traffic will be maintained by flaggers as needed. (#15-0509)

BROWN COUNTY

SEPTEMBER 30: A resurfacing project is scheduled to begin on U.S. 52, with crews paving the route from Hanover Street in Ripley to the western corporation limit of Aberdeen. Construction also includes repairs to the approaches of the overpass (U.S. 62) to the William Harsha Bridge. Throughout the project, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers, and all work is anticipated to be completed in mid-fall. (#16-0447)

Preliminary work is under way on S.R. 32 for an emergency culvert replacement project. During construction, the route will be reduced to one lane in each direction between the Brown-Clermont County line and C.R. 101 (Eastwood Road), near Mt. Orab, with bi-directional traffic will be maintained in either the west or the eastbound lanes by way of a crossover. The project is anticipated to be completed by mid-November.

C.R. 50 (Bethlehem Road) is closed for a bridge replacement project. The project site is located between C.R. 14A (Decatur-Eckmansville Road) and T.R. 223 (Rickey Road), and while the route is closed, motorists will be detoured via T.R. 223 (Rickey Road), T.R. 61 (Hughes Road) and C.R. 14A (Decatur-Eckmansville Road). The project is scheduled to be completed in early fall. (#16-0415)

U.S. 50 is subject to single-lane restrictions between the Clermont and the Highland County lines for a resurfacing project. The project also includes rehabilitating bridges located between T.R. 100 (Woodard Road) and T.R. 80462 (River Reach Road) and between C.R. 12 (Fayetteville-Blanchester Road) and the corporation limit of Fayetteville. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers when crews are at work, and the project is expected to be completed in early fall. (#16-0344)

A culvert rehabilitation project is under way on U.S. 68, and crews will be installing a culvert liner at the route’s 40.91-mile marker, immediately north of T.R. 581 (Ohio Street) at the southern corporation limit of Fayetteville. As most work will be conducted off the roadway, there should be little to no impact to motorists throughout construction. (#16-0318)

U.S. 52 is reduced to one, 12-foot lane between C.R. 307 (Old A&P Road) and T.R. 255 (Pisgah Hill Road) for a slide repair project. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained with temporary signals, and all work is anticipated to be completed in early October. (#16-0345)

A resurfacing project is under way on S.R. 125, from the Brown-Clermont County line to the 6.4-mile marker between T.R. 402 (Gillette Station Road) and C.R. 18 (Eden Road). The project also includes paving a small section of S.R. 125 immediately east of C.R. 15 (George Miller Road). Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers and/or temporary signals, and the project is scheduled to be completed in mid-summer. (#15-0559)

CLINTON COUNTY

 Beginning Monday, October 3rd, weather permitting, Hunter Rd. will be closed for a bridge deck repair. This bridge is located between SR 28 and Macedonia in Washington Twp., Clinton County. The last address accessible from the north (Macedonia Rd.) is 391 Hunter Rd. There are no addresses between SR 28 and the road closure. The project is anticipated to take 1 week.

Beginning Monday, September 26th, weather permitting, Port William Rd. will be closed for a bridge deck repair. This bridge is located between Mason Rd. and State Rt. 134 in Liberty Twp. Clinton County. The last address that will be accessible from the west (Mason Rd.) is 2988 Port William Rd. The last address accessible from the east (SR 134) is 3154 Port William Rd. The project is anticipated to take 1 week.

 FAYETTE COUNTY

9/28/16 The City of Washington Court House Street Dept. has closed Leesburg Ave. down from Highland Ave. to Fairview Ave for street repair until approx. 10:30 a.m. Any questions or problems please call the service dept. at 636-2380.

HIGHLAND COUNTY

9/21/16 Grimsley Rd. between Old 62 and Leaverton is closed today for drag patching. 

9/19/16 Sicily Rd. between Starr & Oak Leaf is closed until 10/6/16 for cutting a hill down.

A micro-resurfacing project is under way on S.R. 73, extending from the Clinton County line to city of Hillsboro’s corporation limit. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers, and all work is anticipated to be completed by early October. (#16-0361)

JACKSON COUNTY

C.R. 13 (Franklin Valley Road) is closed for a bridge replacement project. The site is located north of C.R. 12 (Antioch Road), northwest of Oak Hill, and the closure is expected to be in effect for 75 days. While the route is closed, motorists will be detoured via S.R. 279, Franklin Valley Road, Dan T. Davis Road and Antioch Road. All work is scheduled to be completed in late fall. (#16-8010)

T.R. 505 (Comer Schoolhouse Road) is closed for a bridge replacement project. The project site is located just east of the Scioto County line, and the closure will be in effect for up to 75 days. Throughout construction, motorists will be detoured via T.R. 218 (Charles Russ Road) and S.R. 139 in Scioto County to C.R. 63 (Bucklick Creek Road) in Jackson County. The project is scheduled to be completed in mid-fall. (#16-8011)

LAWRENCE COUNTY

S.R. 217 is reduced to one lane between C.R. 2 (Greasy Ridge Road) and T.R. 228 (Capper Ridge Road), one mile west of S.R. 775, for a slide repair project. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained with temporary signals, and the project is anticipated to be completed by early October. (#16-0421)

S.R. 217 is closed between T.R. 101 (Yellow Creek Road) and the north junction with S.R. 378 for roadway reconstruction. In addition, S.R. 378 is reduced to one lane at its junction with S.R. 217 as part of the reconstruction. Throughout construction, S.R. 217 motorists will be detoured via S.R. 378 and S.R. 141, and traffic on S.R. 378 will be maintained in one, 11-foot lane with the use of temporary traffic signals. S.R. 217 will be closed through mid-September, and all work is scheduled to be completed in mid-fall. (#15-8010)

S.R. 93 is reduced to one, 12-foot lane between C.R. 193 (Telegraph Hill Road) and C.R. 40 (Brady Fork Road), for a slide repair project. The project site is located approximately four miles south of the Jackson County line, and throughout construction, traffic will be maintained with temporary signals. The project is scheduled to be completed in early October. (#16-0364)

S.R. 243 is subject to periodic single-lane restrictions during daytime, working hours for a resurfacing project. The work zone extends from U.S. 52 at Coal Grove to just east of T.R. 117 (Corbin Creek Road). Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane by flaggers. The project is scheduled to be completed in mid-summer. (#15-0534)

S.R. 775 is open following a bridge replacement project approximately 1.5 miles east of S.R. 141, immediately west of T.R. 75 (Buckeye-Greasy Ridge Road). Crews have minor finishing work to complete; however, there should be little to no impact to motorists, and all traffic will be maintained by flaggers as needed. (#15-0492)

Operations for a bridge repair project on S.R. 7 are under way. The project site is situated between C.R. 15 (Buffalo Creek Road) and the interchange ramp from U.S. 52, and traffic may be restricted to one, 12-foot lane in either direction during construction. All work is anticipated to be completed in mid-fall. (#16-0020)

S.R. 650 will be reduced to one lane between U.S. 52 and S.R. 522 for resurfacing. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the aid of flaggers during daytime, working hours. The project is scheduled to be completed in early fall. (#15-0500)

Construction of the Ironton-Russell Bridge Replacement project continues, and restrictions and traffic pattern changes are in effect on U.S. 23 at the junction with Bellefonte Street and the viaduct in Kentucky, adjacent to the approach for the new structure. KY 244 (Bellefonte Street) will be reduced to one lane at the U.S. 23 viaduct in Kentucky. Additional restrictions and traffic pattern changes are in effect on U.S. 23 adjacent to the approach for the new structure. The restrictions are in effect through August, and motorists may encounter temporary periods of delay in the work zone. MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 12: As part of the Ironton-Russell Bridge replacement project, restrictions will be in place on U.S. 23 at the Kentucky approach to the new bridge for median construction and pavement work. Although U.S. 23 traffic will be maintained in both directions by flagging crews and law enforcement officers, traffic patterns will be shifted to allow crews to work in the median. Motorists are reminded of the need for additional caution and to expect periods of delay throughout the day.

PICKAWAY COUNTY

S.R. 138 is closed between C.R. 23 (Chillicothe Pike) and C.R. 101 (Hickory Bend Road) for a bridge replacement project. The project site is located approximately five miles east of the Ross County line, and the closure will be in effect for up to 60 days. While the route is closed, motorists will be detoured via U.S. 22 and S.R. 207. A local detour will also be assigned. The project is scheduled to be completed in mid-fall. (#16-0404)

S.R. 56 will be reduced to one lane from the Madison County line to U.S. 22 at Circleville for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers when crews are at work, and the entire project is scheduled to be completed in late summer. (#16-0092)

S.R. 104 has been reopened between T.R. 101 (Hickory Bend Road) and T.R. 103 (Sisk Road) following a bridge replacement project. Crews have minor finishing work to complete; however, there should be little to no impact to motorists, and all traffic will be maintained by flaggers as needed. (#15-0613)

PIKE COUNTY

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 19: A preventive maintenance project is scheduled to begin on S.R. 551, with crews paving the route from S.R. 220 to the ODNR field office near S.R. 104. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers, and all work is expected to be completed in mid-October. (#16-0439)

As part of a roadway rehabilitation project, C.R. 84 (Wakefield Mound Road) is closed at its junction with T.R. 603 (Seif Road) for a culvert replacement. While the route is closed during the initial phase of the project, traffic will be detoured via Seif Road, U.S. 23 and S.R. 32. At all other times, traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is anticipated to be completed in late October. (#16-8008)

A rumble stripe installation project has begun on U.S. 23, where crews will be installing rumble stripes along the edge lines of the route’s center, two-way left turn lane from the northern corporation limit of Waverly to the Ross County line. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane in each direction, and the project is scheduled to be completed in early fall. (#16-1054)

A preventive maintenance project is under way in the Kincaid Fish Hatchery, where crews will be paving, crack sealing and chip-sealing roadways and parking areas within the park that is located off S.R. 124, near C.R. 6 (Lapperell Road). Traffic on S.R. 124 will be maintained at all times; however, park roads may be subject to short-term periods of closure. Traffic will also be maintained by flaggers when crews are at work. The project is scheduled to be completed in late summer. (#16-1037)

A culvert rehabilitation project has begun on S.R. 772, just north of S.R. 220, where crews are installing a culvert liner. As most work will be conducted off the roadway, there should be little to no impact to motorists throughout construction. However, traffic on two-lane routes will be maintained by flaggers as needed when crews are working at designated locations. (#16-0318)

A culvert replacement project is under way on S.R. 772, where crews will be installing a culvert liner at the route’s 0.98-mile marker. The project site is located between the junctions of the Pike-Scioto County line, near T.R. 311 (Vanaka Road), and throughout most construction, there should be little impact to motorists. Traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers as needed, and all work should be completed in mid-summer. (#16-0296)

S.R. 104 is closed between S.R. 552 and T.R. 420 (Boswell Run Road) as part of the Lake White Dam rehabilitation and bridge replacement project. In addition, S.R. 551 is closed between its junction with S.R. 104 and C.R. 93 (Bricker Road), near the park office. Through traffic is being detoured by way of U.S. 23 and S.R. 32, and local traffic to the Lake White region is being detoured via S.R. 552 and S.R. 220. Roadway construction is anticipated to be completed by late fall or early winter 2016, and the lake is expected to be restored for the fishing and boating season in 2017. T.R. 403 (Turkey Run Road) has been reopened located immediately west of the junction with C.R. 32 (Johnson Hill Road) following a bridge replacement. Crews have additional roadway and realignment work to complete; however, traffic will be maintained by flaggers when crews are at work. The entire project is scheduled to be completed in early fall. ROSS COUNTY

U.S. 23 is reduced to one, 11-foot lane in each direction from the S.R. 159 interchange, north of Chillicothe, to the Pickaway County line for a resurfacing and bridge rehabilitation project. A reduced speed limit is also in effect, and all work is anticipated to be completed in early fall. (#15-0550)

The median crossover at the intersection of C.R. 275 (Crouse Chapel Road) and U.S. 23 has been closed for paving operations as part of the four-lane resurfacing and bridge rehabilitation project that is under way on U.S. 23. The closure will be in effect for approximately four weeks, and while it is closed, southbound U.S. 23 motorists wanting to turn left onto Crouse Chapel Road will be detoured by way of S.R. 207 to U.S. 23 North. Those traveling from Crouse Chapel to U.S. 23 South will be detoured via T.R. 279 (Blackwater Road).

A culvert replacement on S.R. 207, between T.R. 124 (Rinkliff Road) and C.R. 111 (Stone Road), is nearing completion, and the route is now open to two lanes of traffic. Crews have minor finishing work to complete; however, there should be little to no impact to motorists, and all traffic will be maintained by flaggers as needed. (#16-0195)

Operations for a resurfacing and bridge repair project on U.S. 23 between C.R. 600 (Massieville Road) and the S.R. 104 interchange, south of Chillicothe, are nearing completion. Intermittent lane restrictions will be in effect when crews are at work at select locations, with traffic maintained in at least one lane in each direction. All work is expected to be completed in early fall. (#15-0586)

A rumble stripe installation project will be under way on U.S. 23, where crews will be installing rumble stripes along the edge lines of the route’s center, two-way left turn lane between the Pike County line and C.R. 600 (Massieville Road). Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in the driving lane in each direction, and the project is scheduled to be completed in early fall. (#16-1054)

SCIOTO COUNTY

The U.S. Grant Bridge has been closed for a pavement overlay project. The project is scheduled to be completed in late October, and throughout construction, motorists will be detoured via the Carl Perkins Bridge and U.S. 52, west of Portsmouth. (#16-1052)

The exit ramp from U.S. 52 East to S.R. 253 and the Greenup Dam Bridge will be restricted for a slide repair and lighting project. The off-ramp will be reduced to 11 feet, and traffic will be maintained in the work zone. Motorists are reminded of the need for additional caution, and they may encounter periodic delays during peak travel times. All work is anticipated to be completed in early fall. (#16-1044)

A paving project on U.S. 52 East in Portsmouth is under way in the eastbound lanes of 11th Street (U.S. 52) from the western corporation limit of Portsmouth to New Boston, as well as between Malone Cox Road and S.R. 239 at West Portsmouth. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in a minimum of one lane; arterial streets may be subject to short-term closure at their intersection with 11th Street during paving operations. The project is scheduled to be completed in mid-fall. (#16-0157)

S.R. 140 is reduced to one lane between C.R. 17 (Frederick Road) and the village of South Webster for a culvert replacement project. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with temporary signals, and all work is anticipated to be completed in late summer. (#16-0196)
