At Wednesday nights Washington City Council Meeting an ordinance amending vicious dog references, particularly, the Pit Bull Terrier, were being discussed.

The ordinance reads in part, "Ordinance amending codified ordinance vicious dogs and pit bull terriers by eliminating all references to pit bull terriers". It also states that 1) sometimes it is necessary to amend ordinances, 2) distinguishing pit bull terriers and other breeds, and 3) the specific reference to pit bull terriers should be eliminated as vicious dogs.

WCH Law Director Mark Pitstick says The state statute has 3 designations, a nuisance, dangerous, and vicious dog. Each of these categories has it's own criteria to be met. The dog warden would also be able to declare a dog as vicious.
