The Wilmington Highway Patrol Post is investigating a two-vehicle injury crash. Authorities say it took place on the State Route 73 bypass, east of US 68, at 11:33am, Thursday. According to the Patrol, 83-year-old Gwendolyn McCormick, of Wilmington, was driving westbound in the eastbound lanes of the bypass when her vehicle collided head on with a vehicle driven by 44-year-old Mitchell Davis, of Lynchburg.
McCormick was flown to MiamiValleyHospital with life threatening injuries, while Davis was taken to ClintonMemorialHospital with serious injuries, said authorities.
Both occupants were reportedly wearing seat belts, and speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.
