The Hocking County Coroner has pleaded not guilty to five charges accusing him of not doing his job, in a case that later spilled over into Fayette County.
Doctor David Cummin entered the plea in court. where he was charged with dereliction of duty and coercion.
The charges are in response to a double shooting at a Hocking County cabin on July 19th. The gunfire killed a man and wounded a woman, but Dr. Cummin refused to authorize the transport of the victim's body to Franklin County for an autopsy. Cummin's reportedly wanted county commissioners to first email a resolution to him transferring money into his budget.
The shooter fled to a motel in Jeffersonville, where he shot himself. He later died from his injuries.
