The Highland County Water Company has announced a boil alert for Eubanks Road in Brown County until further notice.

A public notice from 8:30pm Friday reports that E. coli bacteria contamination was discovered in a flushing hydrant at the end of the line on Eubanks Road.

As a precaution, the water company instructs customers on Eubanks Road to boil water before ingesting it.

Bring all water to a boil for at least one minute, or use bottled water for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice.

No E. coli were found in any sample results from the surrounding area, and the contamination has been determined to have been limited to the one hydrant with no customers affected.  The water line has been disinfected and has subsequently tested negative for the bacteria.
